How do I get started?
You can start either by creating a profile or conducting a career search. Once you submit your resume, it is automatically added to our resume database, where it is available to our recruiters. When you find a job that you're interested in, you can apply for it by either submitting a new resume or one that you have previously uploaded to your profile.
How does creating a profile on Vanguard's careers website help me?
Creating a profile gives you full access to the tools on Vanguard's careers website. You can save a resume online, create up to five search agents that will send you e-mail alerts when new positions become available, save position descriptions during your job search, and more. For more information on search agents, please see the Job opening e-mail notifications section below.
How do I create a profile?
Click the Find a job tab, and then click Register Now (located just under the log-in section) and follow the instructions. You'll be prompted to create a user name and password. Your password must consist of at least six characters, with at least two numbers and two letters.
If you're already registered, enter your user name and password and click Login.
I forgot my password. Can you e-mail it to me?
Of course! Simply click the Find a job tab, click Search and apply, and then click Forgot Login within the Login box. After you enter your user name and click Get New Password, your password will be e-mailed to you.

What's the best way to find an available position?
Click the Find a job tab to select criteria that will help you choose the positions that may be right for you. After you've completed a search, the results you get will show the available positions that match your criteria. Click the title for a detailed description of the job. You can also save your search as a search agent, which sends you e-mail alerts when matching positions are posted to the site. On the Search and apply page, click the job title for the position you're interested in. Then, on the Job Description page, click Apply Now. If you don't have a user name or password, you'll be prompted to create one. If you already have one, you'll be prompted to log in.

On the Search and apply page, scroll to the bottom and click Apply Without Selecting Job. If you do not have an account, you will be prompted to create one. If you already have one, you'll be prompted to log in.
Can I submit my resume online?
You can submit your resume on once you've created a profile. You can either upload your resume or paste it into a text box.
What are the advantages of submitting my resume online?
Submitting your resume online posts it to Vanguard's resume database, giving recruiters easy access to your skills when appropriate positions become available.
Can I update my resume?
Yes. By creating a profile you'll have full access to Vanguard's careers website tools. The best way for you to update your resume after you've applied for a position is to click Find a job, log in to the website, and then choose the Apply Without Selecting Job link at the bottom of the page. When you choose Apply Now, do so without adding a job. From here you can upload a new resume or paste a new resume into the text box.
How often should I submit my resume?
When you send your resume through the website for a specific position, the recruiter who posted the position receives a copy. Therefore, you are only able to apply for a specific position once. However, you're encouraged to apply for all positions you feel fit your qualifications and interests.
After submitting my resume, when can I expect to hear from Vanguard?
You'll receive an e-mail confirming that your resume has been received. Your resume is entered into our database and made available to recruiters who will match your skills, strengths, and areas of interest with open positions. A Human Resources representative may contact you if an open position matches your skills and background. Because of the volume of resumes we receive, we are unable to personally contact every candidate. However, we do keep resumes in our database for one year and will refer to it as our staffing requirements change.
Why do I receive an error message when I am trying to upload my resume? (For example, "You are attempting to upload an invalid file format" or "We are unable to process your uploaded resume at this time. Please use the copy and paste resume text option.")
Our website accepts the following file formats only: Microsoft Word document (.doc, .docx), PDF file (.pdf), Rich Text Format (.rtf), and Text file (.txt). In addition, our website does not allow you to upload a resume that includes a period or other types of punctuation in the document title.
How do I submit a cover letter, writing sample, or other attachment?
Once you have logged in to the website, click My Career Tools, choose Cover Letters and Attachments, then select Add Attachment, and follow the online instructions.
Is my information secure?
Yes. Your user name and password protect your profile and resume information that you provide on Vanguard's careers website. Vanguard will only use this information for internal purposes; it will never be shared with outside parties. Vanguard reserves the right to use internet addresses and domains from site registrants for the purposes of collecting analytical data and information used for technical troubleshooting.

We use the information entered in your profile only to match it with the skill sets of open positions and to e-mail you notifications of positions that match your search criteria.
Does Vanguard accept resumes from job agencies or search firms?
Vanguard does not accept unsolicited resumes from any third party, including, but not limited to, search firms, staffing agencies, head hunters, or consulting firms. All unsolicited resumes sent to a Vanguard e-mail address, Vanguard employee, or Vanguard's resume database will be considered the property of Vanguard, and we will not pay any fee associated with unsolicited resumes.
